Boca Raton was originally inhabited by the Tekesta Indians, who lived in communities near the ocean. When the construction of the Florida East Coast Railway made the region accessible to pioneers, Boca became a successful agricultural community, specializing in pineapple cultivation. In 1925, the city was incorporated and noted society architect Addison Mizner was called upon to design a world class resort community. His architectural style continues to influence the city today. In 1942 the Army Air Corps established its only war-time radar training facility on the site of what is now Florida Atlantic University, bringing with it thousands of families and civilian employees, allowing the population to grow. It is the core of southern Palm Beach County.

Boca Raton has so much to offer, with things to see and activities for all ages. Besides many historical attractions, Boca is home to diverse museums, beautiful parks and beaches, nature centers, spas and wellness centers, galleries, concerts, golf facilities, bike tours, boating and high end shopping. End your busy day with an exquisite meal in one of Boca’s fine dining establishments, or take in a show at the historic Mizner Park Amphitheater.
